Although there looks like there is a great difference in the color of some of the maple in this pulpit, it is really just a difference in how the light plays off of the surfaces at different angles. This shot shows some of the beauty of the grain in the top of the pulpit. It is hard for the camera to truly capture the beauty of the top because you have to be at the proper angle to truly see the grain. As the angle of view changes, so does the look of the top. So as you walk around the pulpit, the shimmer of the grain in the wood seems to move and dance.
